North of the Palm Beaches the coast goes quiet, and Witham Field in Stuart is the airport for that stretch: Martin County and the Treasure Coast. It is a general and business aviation field with no scheduled airlines, county-owned, with its own control tower, for Stuart, Jupiter Island, and the surrounding communities.

Homer Witham
Martin County built the field during World War II and named it for Paul "Homer" Witham, the first Naval aviator from Stuart to die in the war. The Navy ran it as a training field. Grumman later leased acreage for aircraft manufacturing and flight test before the land went back to the county.
