Palm Springs International is the Coachella Valley's airport: Palm Springs, Palm Desert, La Quinta, a desert-resort region built around golf, wellness, and a heavy calendar of events. It is a place people fly to at least as much as from, and the season and the event calendar set the demand.
Who flies here
PSP carries airlines and private traffic, and the private side spikes around the valley's marquee events and in the cooler months. Pricing and availability move with the season.
On the field
As of mid-2026 the FBOs at Palm Springs include Atlantic Aviation, on the general-aviation side of the field. On a festival or tournament weekend the private ramp fills fast, and the case for a movable date sits out there on the concrete, wingtip to wingtip.
Army strip, 1939
The field began in 1939 as a U.S. Army emergency landing strip on Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians land, chosen for the desert's clear flying weather. The City of Palm Springs bought it in 1961 and made it the municipal airport that grew into today's PSP. The town's mid-century-modern spirit extends to the terminal, which is partly open to the desert air.
