Palm Springs International Airport

A bit of history

The field began in 1939 as a U.S. Army emergency landing strip on Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians land, chosen for the desert's famously clear flying weather. The City of Palm Springs bought it in 1961 and turned it into the municipal airport that grew into today's PSP — where the mid-century-modern spirit of the town extends to a partly open-air terminal.
