Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport

Fort Lauderdale Executive serves Broward County and the northern half of the South Florida metro, from Fort Lauderdale up toward Boca. It's a pure general-aviation field — no airlines — which makes for fast, low-friction private departures close to the beaches, downtown, and the yachting scene the area is known for.

Who flies here

FXE is business and general aviation through and through, with one of the more active private-jet ramps in the region. For charter it's the natural counterpart to Opa-locka on the Broward side — convenient for anyone north of Miami proper.

A bit of history

The field began in 1941 as West Prospect Field, a Navy training strip in World War II. The federal government deeded it to the City of Fort Lauderdale in 1947 for public aviation use, and it grew into the busy executive airport it is today — the business-aviation hub of Broward County.
